summary 1 : chapter1 This book "Maniac Magee" is about this boy named Jeffery linoel "Maniac" Magee. He was living an ordinary life, but all that changed after his baby sitter told him that his parents were in the famous P & W trolley crash, where the motorman was and drunk and took the high trestle over the schuylkill riverat sixty miles per hour and the rest was terrible history for Jeffery. Know he was an orphan in a cold dark world and he had nobody. When this crash happend Jeffery was only three years old. But at that time he wasn't called maniac , he was Jeffery Lionel Magee. After that he was shiped to his nearest relitives, Aunt Dot and Uncle Dan. know his life had changed forever.

Everybody knows that Jeffery Linoel "Maniac" Magee started out in Hollidaysburg and some how wound up Two Miles. Sure, well it is especially far on foot. but the year that it took him to cover it was about fifty-one weeks more then he needed. The legend doesn't have the awnser. And that's why this period is know as the lost period. And another question is why did he choose to stay there? What is so special about that spot of Two Miles. Well there is the answer that it is right acoss the Schuykill Bridgeport,where he was born ofcourse.But there are those other poeple who have there own theories about why he was there. And some theories were. poeple though he was tired of running, and others say it was the butterscotch krimpets. But in my estimation it was none of those theories.

In this chapter Jeffery went to the high school field during eleventh gradegym class. About a dozen of them were playing football, becuase they were on the varsity. Also the gym teach happend to be a football coach.The star quarterback, Brian Denethy, wound up and throw a sixty yard bomb to his favorite recevier. And that was James 'Hands' Down, who was streaking across a fly pattern down the sideline. But the ball never reached his hands. Justas hewas about tocradle it in to his big brown loving mitts, it vanished. By the time he recovered from the shock, a little kid was weaving upfield through th varsity players. Nobody laid a paw on him. Then he punted the ball perfectly than anthing Brian had ever through. And it landed on the outstetched hands of the still stuned Hands Down. Then he ran off.
